on the hook: Compostelle shawl

Ooh, it's been a while since I've shared any stitchy stuff here, hasn't it? If we're friends on Instagram, though, you'll have seen me working away on this beauty (see details on Ravelry here).

Yep, I finally made up my mind about which of these gorgeous shawls to make with La Bien Aimee's glorious Direwolf Graffiti yarn. I let my inner Francophile call the shots and plumped for Eclectic Gipsyland's Compostelle (Pink Champagne in Simply Crochet). The pattern is lacy but with lots of texture. So far, I'm really enjoying the popcorn stitches and seeing the mermaidy curves of the shawl emerge in all different colours!

I'm actually in a bit of a WIP whirl at the moment, with a couple of top secret (very exciting!) projects demanding my attention, as well as my little red Miette cardi that I'm determined to finish by the end of the month. Phew!

I'd love to know what you're making. Anyone else out there juggling WIPs?

  1. You have a hook to match your yarn! Pefect. The yarn is very beautiful and I wish I had bought some from the same seller when I had the chance in Edinburgh this year. I could kick myself now! I do love that way of dyeing yarn, though I never know what patterns would work well with it.

    1. Cheers, Nadia! I think you can buy it online, and they do quite a few of the yarn events through the year, so keep your eyes peeled - it's lovely to stitch with! :)

  2. It'll be interesting to see how this shawl design looks in variegated yarn. I like the "graffiti" look and I think your shawl will have an urban vibe. I need to finish a WIP so I have an excuse to buy birthday yarn before the month is out, LOL!

    1. Thanks Stefanie! Yep, I'm feelign that urban vibe! I have a sneaking suspicion that this will be a variegation that lends itself more to knitting that to crochet, but I think it'll be pretty nonetheless.

  4. That yarn is incredibly beautiful! I actually finished a lot of WIPs recently so I'm enjoying a bit of a cast on binge.
